Dear LJ friends,

I need your vote!  This month I'm participating in a curated online market called papernstich.  They rate the shop by how many hearts each vendor gets!  The vendor with the most hearts gets another free month in the online market.

To add a heart to my shop is easy-  click here to sign up to vote and then click here to vote for me if you like what you see in my shop! (simply click on the heart to the left)

I am also giving away a  free summer postcard set for any purchase above $20 through papernstich.  Just mention papernstich in the check out.  Thanks!   : )

Some of you may know that I paired up with my sister, executive pastry chef Louise to make a unique Valentine's Day chocolate box ($35) which includes: a two color silk-screened chocolate box with red scallop detail and tie string, a heart shaped blank valentine's day card and four indulgent chocolate bonbons (Cardamon chocolate, Cinnamon Dulce de Leche, Brown sugar banana and Almond truffle).  I wanted to share with you pictures of the box and the chocolates.  Today is the last day to order! For more details and to order click here.

We= Trouble gallery show at Tiny Showcase

Inspiration
: moth + fire

The two sculptures are molded out of air dry porcelain over light wire armature
to hold the L.E.D.s in place.  I made the fuzzy texture by painting a separate piece of dry porcelain clay a light beige and then shaving bits off using a wire brush. I then covered each of the sculptures entirely in these light beige shavings so it appears dusty and fuzzy like a moth wing.  The LEDs are wired simply and attached to watch batteries which can be replaced as needed.

respost from [info]madebytess

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
- What I create will be just for you.
- It'll be done this year.
- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to repost. We can all make stuff!!

Went to a demonstration on saturday in O.C and though protesting is not the solution I was really glad there were so many of us (over 400 people!) voicing out against Sarah Palin outside of her Republican fundraising event.

Dear Lj friends

I am doing research for a children's book so I was wondering if you all could help me by answering a few questions:

Did you have an imaginary friend when you were a kid? how old were you?
did you ever stop believing in it?
if yes, do you remember the moment when you stopped believing in it and why?

Thank you!

Slowly making headway on my tween(between picture book and middle grade) children's book.  Finished a first draft and I'm going to go straight to storyboarding until I find out what I should do for the ending.  Any writers out there have any tips for solving the dilemna of a mild writer's block? I guess that is as good as asking for the cure to cancer.  Perhaps picking up inspiring reads might get something going again...can anyone recommend any children's books/stories akin to Roah Dahl and Sendak with a little bit of dark humor?

At last year's benefit  24hr Cancer Dance-a-thon  I lasted from 10:am until 2:40am...then my feet had a mild break down.   But this year I'm bringing two pairs of really comfortable shoes and only staying from 10:00am until 10:00pm and hopefully raising $500 so if you feel so inclined please make a donation at the dance-a-thon website, and if you are into swing dancing there will be lessons + dancing for 24 hours and free to sign up here.

I'll have these two  prints for anyone who donates $50 or more (just e-mail: gatapuff@yahoo.com after donating to let me know where you want the prints sent to).   You can donate from now to Nov.17th!
Here's a FAQ about the event.

I just finished this book:  a very inspiring, informative and practical with a friendly nudge book to everyone who has ever wished that they could just be creative for a living and start a creative business from scratch.
one of many special tid bits in the book: one of my favorites, Sharilyn from lovely design, has an interview in it.  : )

Highly recommend it to all of my crafty  friends.

and speaking of craft, I just got back (last week)  from Renegade Craft Fair Chicago which happened in conjunction with Do Division street music fest.  It was a learning experience equal parts exhausting and fun.   I only brought prints, postcards and buttons but those darned things are heavy.   I am looking forward to next year's Renegade where I vow not to have to deal with weighing in luggage at 84lbs and having to pay the extra $50 fine.

For anyone from Chicago who missed the fair stop by the Renegade Handmade shop  on division street- it's a beauty.
